Kolkata, June 20: Days after the violence in Basirhat area of West Bengal, another violence took place in Bhatpara, just north of Kolkata, on Thursday. In this violent clashes, two people have been killed and three others have been reportedly injured.
Following the repeat of the violent incident, state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee sat in a meeting with the police chief, the Chief Secretary and other top officials. Among the people killed in Rambabu Shaw, was a 17-year-old pani puri (puchka) seller, while another succumbed to injuries. Three others' condition is stated to be critical. According to the report, the clash began on Thursday morning as crude bombs were thrown and gunshots were fired. All this happened prior to the Bengal police chief was to inaugurate a new building for the local police station in North 24 Parganas district, claims NDTV.
BJP Lok Sabha parliamentarian from Barrackpore, Arjun Singh blamed Trinamool Congress and state police for the violence. He said, as the news website quotes, "The Trinamool goons and the police are behind the violence in Barrackpore."
It is to be known that a series of clashes in Bhatpara took place Lok Sabha Elections 2019. Often these clashes had acquired communal undertones. It happened in Basirhat a few days ago and now it has happened in Bhatpara.
