West Bengal, July 24: In a heart-wrenching incident, a transgender from the state was beaten to death on suspicion of being a child lifter in Sulkapara, Jalpaiguri. According to an ANI report, police managed to rescue the victim from the clutches of the mob, but she died on the way to the hospital. I Love Kids But I'm Not A Child Lifter, Don't Lynch Me!
Police have been quoted saying, "No incident of child kidnapping has happened, these are rumours spread by notorious people." The mob smashed her head with stones and berated her. Over the last couple of months, several incidents of lynching over suspicion of being child-lifters have come from the district.
