West Bengal: Suspected Bomb Found on Railway Track at North 24 Parganas Diffused

Kolkata, January 9: A suspicious item, believed to be a bomb, was found on the railway track at North 24 Parganas in West Bengal's Ashok Nagar on Wednesday. According to a tweet by ANI, Nikhil Kumar, CPRO Eastern Railway confirmed the incident and said it was a suspected bomb. As soon as the bomb was detected, the bomb disposal squad rushed to the spot.

In December 2017, a 1000-pound aerial bomb dating back to the World War-II era was found at a dock here during routine dredging operations. The 4.5-km-long aerial bomb was located during operations at Netaji Subhas Dock berth II. According to reports, the area was cordoned off following the discovery of the bomb Friday and the police, Navy and the Army duly informed, Kolkata Port Trust Chairman Vinit Kumar said.
