Murshidabad, May 26: In a shocking incident, a four-year-old boy as allegedly stripped and burnt with hot khichdi after he asked for an extra egg while having breakfast at a state-funded aanganwadi centre in West Bengal's Murshidabad district on Friday. He was admitted to a Jangipur hospital for treatment after he suffered burns on his legs and hips. According to a report published in Hindustan Times, the minor boy was stripped off his clothes and had steaming Khichdi poured on him by a woman staffer of a centre under Integrated Child Development Scheme. The woman had been identified as Sehari Bawa. “I have spoken to the district magistrate and sought a report from the administration on the inhuman incident,” reported Hindustan Times quoting Ananya Chatterjee Chakraborty, chairperson of the West Bengal Commission for Protection of Child Rights (WBCPCR). The centre is part of the Integrated Child Development Scheme. Under this scheme, children up to six years are provided with supplementary nutrition, immunization and pre-school and non-formal education.
