Burdwan, January 4: A portion of West Bengal's Bardhaman railway station collapsed on Saturday. In the incident, several people were reportedly injured. Authorities have reached the spot after getting the information. The injured were shifted to Bardhaman Medical College and Hospital.. The incident took place at around 8:20 pm. The collapse reportedly occurred amidst repair works that were on in the railway station. Nobody was trapped under the debris. “A portion of the portico outside the main entrance to the station caved in. Senior officials have rushed to the spot. Fire brigade and police are also at the spot. One man has sustained serious injury. Nobody is trapped," reported Hindustan Times quoting I Khan, divisional railway manager of Eastern Railway as saying.West Bengal: Fire Breaks Out at Toy Godown in Siliguri.

According to reports, train movement on platform number one of the station has been suspended. Police and fire tenders also reached the spot. More details are still awaited. Bardhaman Railway Station, located about 95 km from Kolkata, is on the busy Howrah-New Delhi line.
