Singhbhum, November 12: In a major breakthrough for security forces, the West Bengal police recovered huge arms and ammunition from Saranda forest in Singhbhum after an encounter with Naxals of Peoples’ Liberation Front of India (PLFI) on Sunday morning. One DDBL gun, 180 bullets of AK47, one magazine, bullets of 12 bore, a laptop, 12 cell phones, 46 pieces of clothes, uniform, blanket and other daily use goods were seized from the area, reported Hindustan Times. District police and the 94th battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) conducted a joint operation after receiving an information about PLFI activists’ gathering at Temna hill under Gudri police station. Kranti Kumar, superintendent of police told Hindustan Times, “Manoharpur police and CRPF personnel found that PLFI wings of Santosh Kandulna and Boyda had gathered with arms and ammunition.” According to the report, Naxalites started firing on security personnel after they were asked to surrender. The weapons recovered from the Naxalites revealed that they were planning for a big massive attack in Saranda. The police are hopeful of retrieving crucial information from the seized laptop. The forces would conduct search operations in the area on the basis of information recovered from the laptop.
