West Bengal: Mob Vandalises Church in East Midnapore, Three Arrested

Vandals allegedly linked to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) vandalised a church on December 28 in West Bengal. The incident took place in Bhavanpur area in West Bengal's East Midnapore district where a group of eight men attacked the church while allegedly shouting "Jai Shri Ram" slogans.

East Midnapore, December 30: Vandals allegedly linked to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) vandalised a church on December 28 in West Bengal. The incident took place in Bhavanpur area in West Bengal's East Midnapore district where a group of eight men attacked the church while allegedly shouting "Jai Shri Ram" slogans. West Bengal Police has arrested three people so far. The case was filed by Alok Ghosh, the pastor of the church, naming eight people who he claimed were local RSS and BJP workers. Worshippers had come to the church on December 28 when suddenly, at least two bombs exploded outside the building. When the people escaped, the vandals entered the church and started smashing chairs, tables, microphones and window planes. The pastor's car was also vandalised in the incident.
