West Bengal Local Train Update: Indian Railways to Resume 696 Suburban Services From November 11

Indian Railways will run 696 suburban services in West Bengal from November 11. The move will help in easy movement of passengers in the state. Kolkata, November 8: Indian Railways will run 696 suburban services in West Bengal from November 11. The move will help in easy movement of passengers in the state. Railways have ensured that adequate safety measures are in place. Railways Minister Piyush Goyal said that the resumption of suburban services would facilitate smooth travel.

Goyal tweeted, “Railways to run 696 suburban services in West Bengal from November 11. The Railways and the West Bengal government had a meeting on Thursday regarding the resumption of suburban services in the state. The standard operation procedures (SOPs) will be decided in a meeting on November 9. Kolkata Local Trains Expected to Resume Next Week After Staying Shut For Months Amid COVID-19 Pandemic.

According to a preliminary decision, it was decided to run a total of 362 trains in Howrah and Sealdah divisions. As per the Indian Express report, the Eastern Railways will run 100 trains for Howrah and 229 trains for Sealdah section. Meanwhile, the rest 33 trains will be run by South-Eastern Railway. These trains will run at 50 percent capacity, keeping in view COVID-19 situation in the state.

Notably, suburban services were suspended in West Bengal in March after the outbreak of coronavirus. Meanwhile, the local train services have been started in Maharashtra for essential service providers and are likely to resume by mid-November in Tamil Nadu.
