Kolkata, October 30: Expressing shock at the killing of five workers from West Bengal in Jammu and Kashmir, West Bengal Governor J Dhankhar on Wednesday said that the state government and Centre should extend assistance to the victim families because their bread earner is no more. "Their deaths will have a cascading and detrimental effect on their families' daily lives. The loss is unbearable and unforgettable", Dhankhar was quoted by ANI.

The Governor added saying that the the cowardly attack is a shocking incident and must be condemned by everyone. "It's a terrorist attack,they are enemies of humanity and nation. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday announced an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each to the victim’s family and render all assistance to them. Banerjee took to Twitter and said the five innocent labourers were brutally killed in a pre planned manner and demanded a strong investigation so that the real truth comes out. "We are totally shocked! Presently there are no political activities in Kashmir and entire law and order is with the Government of India", she said.

On Tuesday, five labourers from Sagardighi area in Murshidabad district were killed and another injured in a terror attack in Kashmir's Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. According to reports, the five have been identified as -- Sheikh Kamrudin, Sheikh Mohd Rafiq, Sheikh Murnsulin, Sheikh Nizam u Din and Mohd Rafiq Sheikh. The injured has been identified as Zahoor Din Sheikh.
