Akna Union High School in West Bengal's Hooghly district stirred up a fresh controversy by asking Class 10 students appearing for the Bengali language paper about chanting 'Jai Shri Ram' and cut-money. After being criticised, the school issued an apology.
Hoogly, August 10: After a lot of 'Jai Shri Ram' slogan in 2019 Lok Sabha Elections, the term has found a place in a question paper. Akna Union High School in West Bengal's Hooghly district stirred up a controversy by asking Class 10 students appearing for the Bengali language paper about chanting 'Jai Shri Ram' and cut-money. After being criticised, the school issued an apology.
According to reports, the school put two controversial questions in the test papers- 'Elaborate on the harmful effects of chanting Jai Shri Ram' and 'Elaborate on the bold move taken by State government to return cut money'. These two questions were optional and students were supposed to write any one of them for five marks. To Counter 'Jai Shri Ram', TMC Workers Send 10,000 Postcards to PM Narendra Modi with 'Vande Mataram, Jai Hind and Jai Bangla' Messages.
While no official complaint was registered, the school authorities decided to cancel the question and give full five marks to the students who have attempted it. Also, the teacher who set the question paper issued an apology.
Recently, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee told Trinamool Congress (TMC) leaders that she had received complaints about ‘cut money’ being demanded from the people. The CM warned that if anyone caught taking bribe would be arrested.
