Ratlam, January 27: In a display patriarchal mindset in modern times, a fight broke out in a wedding between families of bride and groom over bride's dress. The couple later called off their marriage. The incident took place in Madhya Pradesh’s Ratlam. Varsha Sonawa and Vallabh Pancholi were to get married, but the argument broke out between both the families. According to a report published in India Today, the heated argument began after the groom's family took objection to Varsha wearing an evening gown and they insisted her to wear a saree. Vallabh’s family further demanded that she should also take pallu on her head, but she refused. Varsha is a government servant while Vallabh is a civil engineer by profession. The argument broke out when, the bride refused to follow the diktat. The situation became worse after both the families reached the police station. According to the report, police officials rushed to the police station to mediate between the two parties. The couple finally called off their marriage.
