The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) said that several parts of India are likely to receive heavy rainfall over the coming few days. A heavy rainfall spell is likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal-Sikkim, northeast India and extreme south Peninsular during the next five days.

Meanwhile, similar weather conditions are expected over Uttarakhand and Bihar till August 30 and over Himachal Pradesh and east Uttar Pradesh on August 28 and 29. Northeastern states, including Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram are likely to receive heavy showers over the next few days. Widespread showers with thunderstorms are likely over Andaman & Nicobar Islands, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Sub-Himalayan West Bengal, Sikkim, Jharkhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Telangana, Coastal and South Interior Karnataka.

The IMD predicted isolated heavy rainfall with thunderstorms or lightning over the Western Himalayan region, including Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. Heavy showers are likely over Himachal Pradesh on August 28 and 29 and over Uttarakhand till August 29. Southern states of India, including Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh, are expected to receive heavy falls during the next five days.

Isolated rains with thunderstorms are likely over Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat Region, Madhya Maharashtra and Marathawada, the weather department said.
