Karnataka, November 20: To create awareness on drinking water, Indraprastha Vidyalaya rings bell thrice a day- at 10:45 am,12:00 pm and at 2:00 pm to remind students to drink water.
Private and aided schools in Karnataka have welcomed Education Minister Suresh Kumar’s idea to emulate Kerala’s water bell concept in schools to ensure that students consume an adequate amount of water. These bells act as reminders during which students are asked to consume water to prevent dehydration and urinary infections.
Indraprastha Vidyalaya Principal Jose MJ said, "60-70 percent of our body is made of water. We need to ensure students drink enough water. According to the United Nations, this decade is dedicated to safe drinking water. We have taken the concept from there."
