Mumbai, May 5: Shocking details have emerged as investigators worked to piece together the facts behind the mysterious death of a Mumbai Police officer that rocked the city. Stationed at the Worli Police Headquarters, Vishal Pawar gave a statement before his death, describing the terrifying experience he faced on the evening of April 27. Pawar said that the 'fatka gang' in Matunga allegedly harassed him, took his cell phone, and used a poisonous injection to make him unconscious.

The Dadar Government Railway Police (GRP) stated on Friday that the officer made up the ‘robbery’ narrative. According to GRP officials, Pawar skipped work on April 27 and instead visited two pubs. In contrast to Pawar's claim, the Police investigation revealed that on the particular day, he went to a pub in Dadar (east), had a drink, and then walked 2 kilometres to Parel railway station, where he spent the night. He later returned home in the morning after having drinks with his nephew Nilesh in Thane.
His condition worsened, leading to his admission to Thane Civil Hospital. At the hospital, he made up a story to the police about what occurred with him which led to the Kopri police filing a formal complaint, officials familiar with the matter told Indian Express. Police have also obtained testimonies from Pawar's Worli division's coworkers, who said that Pawar was a habitual drinker. His bank transaction history for the previous year has also been obtained by the police, revealing a significant volume of payments made at wine shops. Upon receiving the case from Kopri police on May 1, Dadar GRP examined CCTV evidence from several Railway stations and Pawar's cell phone location. In conclusion, they discovered that Pawar had fabricate the entire account of heist. Further, the police suspect that Pawar’s death has been caused by organ failure due to his alcohol addiction.
