Vikhroli, August 28: A 22-year-old dog trainer, Hasrat Ali, succumbed to severe injuries after being attacked by a Great Dane during a training session at the Marshal Dog company in the Godrej compounds, Vikhroli, on Monday. Ali, a resident of Tagore Nagar, was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital but was declared dead within two hours of the attack.
Family Suspects Foul Play
Ali’s family, particularly his uncle Parvez Shaikh, who secured his job at Marshal Dog eight months ago, suspects foul play. Shaikh expressed doubts about the company’s account of the incident, noting that Ali had been handling the Great Dane for the entire duration of his employment. "The dogs are familiar with him and never bite their handler. I saw his body; huge chunks of his chest and arms are missing. I feel the company officials are hiding something," Shaikh told TOI. FIR Filed Against Company
Following the incident, an FIR has been lodged under IPC Section 304A (causing death by negligence) against the owner of Marshal Dog and others associated with the company. The family alleges negligence on the part of the company, citing discrepancies in the events leading to Ali’s death and the delay in conducting the postmortem. Postmortem Delayed
Adding to the family’s concerns, the postmortem of Ali’s body, initially expected on Monday, was postponed to Wednesday without a clear explanation. Shaikh believes this delay raises further questions about the situation which led to his nephew’s death.
