Mumbai, December 26: Two people have been arrested after videos after fireworks onboard Mumbai Maiden, a floatel near Bandra Worli Sea Link, during Christmas celebrations on Monday evening. The videos of fireworks on the Mumbai Maiden are going viral on the social media. According to reports, the Bandra Police have arrested two staff members. 15 People Rescued as Floating Restaurant Capsizes off Mumbai.

Reports say those arrested have been identified as Sanjeev Agarwal, the manager of the hotel, and Manoj Mulchandani, the supervisor. The Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB) has also said that it will investigate whether Mumbai Maiden had permission for fireworks.

Sanjeev Agarwal, the owner of Mumbai Maiden, as quoted by DNA, said, "It is a passenger vessel and fireworks are done worldwide on cruise and vessels during New Year and Christmas Eve. My vessel has all precautions to handle any fire incident, and there is no specific permission from MMB given for this. Also, the question of police permission doesn't arrive because there is no law and order issue here."

The Mumbai fire department has said that no fireworks permissions are given on waters, all permissions are restricted to fireworks on land.
