Ahmedabad, December 28: A business delegation from Pakistan will attend the biennial Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit - scheduled to be held this time from January 18-20, 2019 - after a gap of six years, confirmed the organisers on Thursday. As per the reports, eight delegations from different regions of Pakistan are supposed to participate in the summit, considered to be the largest till date.
The report, published in The Indian Express, states that 52 delegations for various countries have confirmed their participation for the Global Conclave of International Chambers - one of the events at the summit. Muslims Better off in Gujarat Than Other States: Rupani.
Previously, a 22-member delegation Pakistani delegation arrived at the Summit in 2013, but left without attending the main summit. The delegation arrived from Karachi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and had attended a pre-event buyer-seller meet on January 9-10. With rising tensions across the border and killing of two Indian soldiers in ceasefire violation, on January 8 at the Mendhar sector of J&K’s Poonch, the delegation left before the main event.
Citing the reason for the departure for the delegation from Pakistan in 2013, the state government had stated that the delegation was given visa only for Ahmedabad while the main event was held in Gandhinagar. From then, Pakistan has not sent any delegation though two summits have passed by.
Official documents state that two representative delegations are most likely to arrive from Faisalabad, while one each from Islamabad, Peshawar, Karachi, Punjab province and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa would participate in the summit.
