New Delhi, February 15: The Indian Air Force, in a statement before Vayu Shakti 2019, said that firepower weapons developed in India, including missile launch and gun firing tools through helicopters along with day and night capability weapons will be on display at the Vayu Shakti event 2019. The Vayu Shakti exercise takes place once in every three years. This year, the purpose of the exercise is to "detect and identify" threats in day, dusk and night capability demonstrations.

On Thursday, during the rehearsals, numerous simulated enemy targets were engaged by the IAF. Air-to-ground weapons along with bombs, rockets and guns were also displayed.

Fighter aircrafts such as Mirage-2000, Su-30 MKI, MiG 27, Juguar, Tejas, Hawk, MiG-21 Bison, Mi-17 V5, Mi-35 and ALH MKIV were part of the exercise during the dress rehearsals. A total of 137 flights will be part of the exercise on February, 16.

“Vayu Shakti is a firepower demonstration. It is to display what can be done on targets- on ground and air. So you will see a mix of lethality and precision. There are also many firsts...will see variety of weapons, aircraft...the LCA will be engaging ground targets,” said Air Marshal Anil Khosla, Vice Chief of the Air Staff, talking to reporters at the event.
