Vande Bharat Beats Rajdhani, Gatiman and Shatabdi Express; Becomes First Train to Ply With 100 KMPH Average Speed Between Delhi-Allahabad

The newly launched Vande Bharat Express has become the first Indian train - running between New Delhi and Varanasi route - to surpass the record of Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Gatiman Express, and ply with an average speed of above 100 km per hour.

New Delhi, May 15: Good news for the Indian Railways and passengers travelling in it. The newly launched Vande Bharat Express has become the first Indian train - running between New Delhi and Varanasi - to surpass the record of Rajdhani, Shatabdi, and Gatiman Express, and ply with an average speed of above 100 km per hour.

A report, published by Amar Ujala, states that Vande Bharat has surpassed the average speed to India's fastest trains on the New Delhi-Allahabad route. The train has been found to run at an average speed of 102.79 km per hour between its route. Vande Bharat Express to Get a Back-Up Train Soon, New Service to Be Rolled Out With Improved Facilities.

Also, Vande Bharat has been running at an average speed of 104 km per hour between Chipiyana Buzurg village area to Allahabad Junction railway station. Due to this, the travel time between the national capital and Allahabad had reduced by four hours and now it takes only 6.08 hours to reach Allahabad from New Delhi.

Along with this, Vande Bharat Express has created a record of being punctual on almost all days of service in the month of April. The train travelled between Delhi and Varanasi in just eight hours, even on very rough days.

Meanwhile, Indian Railways mulling to get a body double (a back-up train with same features) for Vande Bharat Express. The officials claim that the new train is all set to arrive later this month and will be pressed into service whenever the existing train is sent for repairs.

Flagged off by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 15 this year, train number 22436/22435 Delhi-Varanasi-Delhi Vande Bharat Express leaves from the New Delhi railway station on every Sunday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday at 6:00 AM to reach Varanasi at 2:00 PM. It departs the same day from Varanasi at 3:00 PM to reach New Delhi at 11:00 PM.
