Uttarakhand Weather Update: Suspension Bridge at Pithoragarh's Nachni Washed Away After Heavy Rains

Dehradun, July 11: The suspension bridge at Pithoragarh's Nachni in Uttarakhand was washed away following heavy rain in the district. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had issued an alert for heavy and very heavy rains in Uttarakhand for July 10 & 11. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat on Tuesday had called off the holidays of all the officers, citing the rain alert. Chief Minister Rawat had also instructed the officers to stay in their respective places of posting so as to make the response time efficient in case there arises a situation of emergency due to the heavy rains.

News agency ANI also tweeted an image of the heavy rains causing a flood like situation near the spot. Check the tweet below:

The Met Department had issued an alert saying that heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in the areas of Chamoli, Pauri and Rudraprayag districts of Garhwal division and also at isolated places in Kumaon division on July 10 and 11.

Meanwhile, heavy rains continue to create flood like situation in different parts of the country. Flood like situation has been reported from parts of Maharashtra, especially from Raigad and Palghar district. Gujarat's Navsari has also been reeling under heavy rains and waterlogging has been reported from the area with flood-water entering homes of the people.
