Dehradun: September 16: In a shocking incident, an unidentified caller hurled abuses at woman police personnel over the helpline number 112. According to a report published in Hindustan Times, some unidentified callers abused the woman police personnel responsible for taking calls. First such call was received at the helpline number’s control room in Dehradun on September 12.
A woman police officer deployed in the control room on condition of anonymity told Hindustan Times, “After receiving the call when he started using foul and obscene language, we warned him not to do that as it could land him in trouble. However, he didn’t listen, and we had to disconnect the call.” She further added that after some time, he again called and did the same thing and the women police personnel decided to lodge a complaint in the nearby police station.
According to the report, in the initial investigations, it was found that the call was made from Bageshwar district. The police tracked the culprit and gave him a warning. The Integrated emergency helpline number 112 is the mainstay for all types of emergency calls in the state. It was launched a few days ago to address emergency situations related to police, fire and ambulance services.
Last month, A 32-year-old man from Pune was accused of stalking and verbal abuse of a female traffic police official. The man was identified as Ravi Ashok Sartape, who was riding a vehicle along the Mahatma Phule Chowk in Mundhwa. He was arrested in the case.
