He said “We have received the complaint and the contract of the current caterer has been terminated with immediate effect while we have begun the process for a fresh tender for a new caterer. This was a one-time issue, but students have been complaining of deteriorating food quality in the mess which is why the decision was taken for a fresh tender.”

The issue comes to light days after insects were found in food served at the girls' hostel of the Savitribai Phule Pune University mess. The Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad alleged that the mess owner and the university administration will be held responsible if any harm comes to a student and they will be doing protests over the matter.
