Uttarakhand: Schools to Remain Shut as IMD Issues Heavy Rainfall Warning
In the wake of the heavy rain warning issued by India Meteorological Department (IMD) in the mountain ranges Uttarakhand, all schools and anganwadi centres in Bageshwar, Tehri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Champawat districts will remain closed on February 7.
Dehradun, February 6: In the wake of the heavy rain warning issued by India Meteorological Department (IMD) in the mountain ranges Uttarakhand, all schools and anganwadi centres in Bageshwar, Tehri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag and Champawat districts will remain closed on February 7. Yesterday, the IMD also predicted heavy snowfall and rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms in Uttarakhand and Jammu and Kashmir in the coming days this week. In 2019, the state witnessed plenty of snowfall in the upper regions. According to reports, Kedarnath received around 9 feet of snowfall. Tourists were stranded for almost 9 days before being rescued in the hill town of Chakrata.
Meanwhile, yesterday, the weather department also issued a warning of heavy to very heavy snowfall at isolated places in Himachal Pradesh in the coming days. According to IMD, various districts of the state including Kullu, Chamba, Lahaul and Spiti, Shimla, Kangra and Kinnaur will witness heavy snowfall on February 6, while these districts can witness very heavy snowfall on February 7.
