Dehradun, January 5: As Uttarakhand reels under severe cold wave conditions, the Uttarakhand government has issued alert to all the District Magistrates following reports by Meteorological Department for the possibility of heavy snowfall and rain in the state. According to a tweet by ANI, snowfall is believed to blanket several areas of the hill state including in Uttarkashi, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, Pithoragarh and Bageshwar on Saturday and Sunday.
In North India, there was no respite from cold wave conditions with dense fog partially stalling flight and train services. Uttarakhand has been witnessing heavy snowfall in several areas since the past few weeks. The Met office said that Harshil, Auli, Tungnath and Chopta received heavy snowfall while Kumayun's Munsyari also received heavy snowfall earlier this week. According to a report by IANS, Gutsy cold winds have been blowing across Nainital, Ranikhet and Almora, while areas including Rajrambha, Nanda Devi, Hasling, Panchachuli, Nandakot, Nanda Ghoonghat, Brajgang, Hiramani glacier, Milam and Sidamdhar have been covered with snowfall.
