Dehradun, September 17: Police have arrested nine people in connection with the alleged gangrape of a class 10th student in Uttarakhand's Sahaspur. The arrested include four students who are reportedly below 18 years of age. According to a report published in Dainik Jagran, the girl was allegedly gang-raped in JRD World Boarding school situated in Bhauwala. After getting raped by the four students, the victim was also forced to abort the child.

The police have also arrested director and principal of the school for attempting to suppress the case. A team of Uttarakhand’s child welfare department also reached the school and met the victim. The four main accused will be presented before the juvenile court on Tuesday. Tomorrow, the victim will also be sent for a medical examination.  The police have registered a case under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. 

According to the report, the incident took place on August 14. Two students of High schools and two students of class 12th allegedly gang-raped the class 10th girl. According to reports, the girl used to stay with her sister in the school hostel. She narrated the entire incident to her sister.

It is the second incident of rape reported from the state in the last one month on the same day. In a similar incident, a 12-yr-old girl was allegedly gang-raped and killed by four men in Bhakra village on August 14. The girl was kidnapped from her home by labourers who had come to work in the state.
