Chamoli, October 13: In a tragic incident, at least eight people after the vehicle in which they were travelling fell into a gorge in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand on Sunday afternoon. The accident took place in Dewal area which is about 150 km from Chamoli district headquarters at Gopeshwar. Five people including the driver of the vehicle were injured. State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) SP, Tripti Bhatt said, “Eight dead, five injured and one person missing in the incident in which a vehicle fell into the Kail river in Dewal, Chamoli, Uttarakhand today.” According to reports, there were 14 people travelling in the vehicle when the accident took place. Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat expressed grief over the incident. He said, “In this hour of sorrow, along with providing patience to the families of the deceased, we wish for the early recovery of the injured. The CM also the District Magistrate of Chamoli to provide immediate assistance to the families of the deceased as well to make proper arrangements for the injured. A magisterial inquiry has also been ordered into the accident.
