Mumbai, May 31: In an unfortunate incident, a man from West Bengal who was trekking in Uttarakhand allegedly died in the hill state due to respiratory issues. The deceased man has been identified as Devabrat Babu, a resident of Sambaya Palli in West Bengal. It is reported that Devabrat Babu allegedly died of a heart attack, which he suffered while trekking in the hilly state.

According to news reports, Devabrat Babu was part of a trekking group of 10 to 11 members. On May 17, Babu left for the Dhumdharkandi trek. It is said that he last communicated with his family via video call on May 19. Deceased Faced Breathing Issues

Confirming the incident, a police officer from Harshil police station said that a group of people from West Bengal went trekking from Sankri to Kyarkoti-Harshil on May 19. The officer further said that the group consisted of 11 trekkers, a leader and his daughter, seven porters, a guide and a cook, among others.

The officer also said that the team informed them that one of their members had died of a heart attack. As per reports, Devabrat faced breathing difficulties at the base camp while they were en route to the trekking destination. Devabrat, who hails from West Bengal, was said to be the sole earning member of his family. He is survived by his wife, two children, and an elderly mother. Devendra Patwal, District Disaster Management Officer of Uttarkashi, said that the Harshil police station was about the incident. Meanwhile, the SDRF teams have been put on alert.
