Dehradun, August 6: In a tragic incident, at least seven people died after a school bus, carrying 18 children, turned turtle in Uttarakhand on Tuesday. According to a tweet by ANI, the bus rolled down in a gorge in Kangsali of Tehri Garhwal on Tuesday morning. As soon as the incident was reported, a team of State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) was rushed to the spot. The injured ones have been shifted to the nearby hospital. The exact cause of the accident is still not known. Uttarakhand: Bus Falls Into Gorge in Pauri District; 2 Dead, 16 Injured. 

In another separate incident, several people have been feared trapped after a boulder fell on their bus at Lambagad slide zone on Badrinath Highway on Tuesday. Police team was pressed into service as soon as the incident was reported. Reports inform that the rescue operation is currently underway.

Earlier this month, two people lost their lives after a bus fell into a gorge near Kabra village of Uttarakhand’s Pauri district, leaving sixteen injured in the accident.

The India Meteorological Department’s Dehradun office has predicted strong rain activity in the hill state on Monday and Tuesday, including along the Mansarovar and Chardham Yatra routes. The IMD has issued an orange alert (“be prepared”) for heavy to very heavy rainfall (up to 200 mm) in the next 48 hours in districts like Uttarkashi, Rudraprayag, Chamoli, Pithoragarh, Nainital, Pauri and Dehradun.
