Uttar Pradesh: Upset Over Ill-Treatment For Asking Leave, Female Constable Commits Suicide

Lucknow, Sep 30: A female constable of Uttar Pradesh police department committed suicide on Sunday due to ill-treatment by her superior male inspector for asking for leave. In her suicide note, constable Monika said inspector Parshuram Ojha ill-treated her, and her leave application was thrown at her face. She was deployed in the CCTNS cell of the Haidergarh police station in Barabanki district.
Around 11:30 am when constable Krishna visited Monika's rented house in Mitaipurwa, he found that the door was locked from inside and his colleague was not responding to calls. He then informed the police. The police came and broke open the door to find Monika hanging from the ceiling. Cops also found a suicide note from her house. "I am really sorry Mom and Dad, please forgive me for taking this extreme step," read her suicide note. Monika narrated how her senior officer Parshuram Ojha misbehaved with her for asking leave. She stated she was ridiculed by another 'moharir' constable Rukhsar Ahmad. She had also said in the note that it was her right to take leaves and was under rightful laws, reported Times of India.
Following the suicide, the accused inspector and 'moharir' constable have been sent to the lines. A probe was yet to be launched against the officer.
