Lucknow, October 31: In an incident that is bound to raise questions on the effectiveness of the welfare programs of the government, a tuberculosis (TB) patient allegedly fell sick due to starvation in Kaushambi district. The patient, identified as Balram, was starving for the past six days, said the daughter of the man. The visual of the man was shared by news agency ANI. His daughter was quoted saying by ANI that "Father was starving since six days as we did not have a single grain at our home, he got sick due to starvation". MK Verma, DM Kaushambi, said that, "We sent our teams as soon as we received the information." The officer informed that the man has been admitted to district hospital. When questioned why did the TB patient not recieve help from government agencies, the DM added that, "His name was missing in 2011 census list due to which he couldn't avail benefits under various schemes, his name has been added now.All support will be provided to him."
