A woman committed suicide by jumping into the Yamuna River while travelling in a car with her husband in Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh.
Mainpuri, January 4: A woman allegedly committed suicide by jumping into the Yamuna River while travelling in a car with her husband in Mainpuri district of Uttar Pradesh. As per a report, the incident occurred near Kodarpur in the Mathsena police station area. The woman, identified as Sadhna, was accompanied by her husband, Ajaykant, and their newborn daughter. Sadhna, a resident of Ahmednagar Devli, Karhal, had given birth to her daughter just 12 days prior through a cesarean operation at Saifai Medical College.
According to a report by Aaj Tak, the events unfolded when, during the journey to Agra, Sadhna requested her husband to stop the car, claiming she needed to put coins in the Yamuna River. Seizing the opportunity, she proceeded to the riverbank and jumped into the water. Responding to her husband's distress calls, nearby farmers and labourers intervened, attempting to rescue Sadhna from drowning. Despite their efforts, she was retrieved from the river and rushed to the Trauma Center of the Medical College, where she was later declared dead. The incident has left both Sadhna's parents and in-laws in shock, struggling to comprehend the motive behind her sudden and devastating decision. According to the report, Sadhna and Ajaykant had been married for ten years and only a few weeks ago, Sadhna had given birth. Authorities are currently conducting an investigation to determine the circumstances that led to Sadhna's tragic suicide. The body has been sent for post-mortem, and Sadhna's husband is being questioned as part of the ongoing inquiry. Superintendent of Police Dehat Kumar Ranvijay Singh emphasised that the investigation is still ongoing, as the reasons behind Sadhna's fatal decision remain unclear.
