Lucknow, August 30: In a deeply disturbing event, a man tied his young son to a tree and thrashed him when the child expressed his refusal to the labour work and chose to study in the Bareilly district of Uttar Pradesh. The man left the kid tied to the tree overnight after demanding to go to school. A case was registered against the accused, who is on the run.

According to a report published by the Times of India, The boy was rescued by his 22-year-old sister, Shahnaaz. As per the reports, the victim's elder sister came to know about the incident when the locals informed her about her father's cruelty towards her younger brother. "My father hurled abuses at me and said he won't let my brother go to school. I informed local police, but no action was taken, so I approached the SSP and lodged a complaint," the TOI quoted the complainant. The victim's sister further alleged they suffered immensely from her father's drinking habits. According to her, last year, her 15-year-old brother died by suicide after her father forced him to work as a daily wage labourer when he yearned to study. Shahnaaz recounted that her father turned to using verbal insults and went so far as to issue threats after she assisted her sibling. Fed up of her father's acts, Shahnaaz accompanied her younger brother to the local police station and officially filed a report against her father. A case was registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Subsequently, cops paid a visit to her father's residence with the intention of arresting him. However, the accused had already fled from the scene and is currently on the run. The police have launched a manhunt to nab him.
