These chilling words preluded a horrifying act in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, where a man attempted to strangle his wife to death after she disclosed being raped by his brother. The woman's revelation turned tragic as her husband disowned her and, alongside his brother, launched a vicious assault the following day.
As reported by NDTV, the survivor's ordeal began on April 2 when she was raped by her brother-in-law while her husband was away. Upon her husband's return, when she told him about the assault, expecting empathy and support. Instead, he callously disowned her, stating, "You are no longer my wife. You are my sister-in-law now." As per the report, the following day, on April 3, the victim found herself in a harrowing situation as her husband and brother-in-law barged into her room. Attempting to silence her, the husband climbed on top of her and tried to strangle her with her own dupatta while his brother recorded the horrifying ordeal on his mobile phone. Following the entire episode, the victim shared the video on social media and lodged a written complaint, prompting swift police action.A case has been registered against the accused husband and brother-in-law under sections 376 (rape), 307 (attempt to murder), and 328 of the Indian Penal Code at Khatauli Kotwali police station.
