Pilibhit, April 24: A farmer from Bithaura village in Uttar Pradesh’s Pilibhit has been arrested for allegedly thrashing a local teenager and strangling him to death over suspicions of mobile phone theft. The accused, identified as 26-year-old Kallu, later found the phone, valued at around Rs 5,000, at his own home.

TOI reported that Kallu had been on the run since the victim’s father filed an FIR following the incident on April 12. He was apprehended by a special police team near Pilibhit Medical College on Monday. During interrogation, Kallu admitted to the crime, providing details about the tragic events that led to the death of 17-year-old Kapil Kumar. Gondia Shocker: 12-Year-Old Tribal Girl Allegedly Raped and Killed in Maharashtra, Cops Find Blood-Smeared Boulder at Crime Scene; Probe Launched.

Kallu confessed to abducting Kapil during a wedding procession on the night of April 12. He admitted to beating and ultimately strangling the teenager after Kapil repeatedly denied stealing the phone. Hours later, Kallu found the missing phone at his own home.

“He rushed to the field, hoping to find Kapil alive, but he was already dead. Kallu attempted to conceal his crime by dumping the body in a nearby wheat field owned by another farmer,” said Circle Officer Deepak Chaturvedi.

Kapil’s body was discovered by his family and villagers at the farm on the evening of April 14. The case is under investigation.
