Baghpat, July 9: A tragic incident unfolded over the weekend when a 20-year-old man, identified as Himanshu Sharma, was allegedly abducted from near his home in Delhi and brutally beaten to death in Baghpat, Uttar Pradesh. The incident stemmed from accusations that Himanshu had raped a 19-year-old girl and subsequently blackmailed her. A case has been registered against eight people, out of whom two have been arrested, and a search is underway to apprehend the remaining accused.

According to a report by the Hindustan Times, the victim's mother, Rajni Sharma, denied the allegations of rape and claimed that Himanshu and the girl lived in the same neighbourhood in Delhi and were in a romantic relationship. Upon learning this, the girl's family, who disapproved of their relationship, conspired to kill him. The girl's family, however, has refuted these claims. As per a report by the Times of India, the sequence of events began with an allegation that Himanshu, a second-year BA student at Delhi University's School of Open Learning, had raped the girl on June 27 and was using the incident to blackmail her. Uttar Pradesh Shocker: Teenager Tied to Pole, Beaten Over Alleged Theft in Hardoi; Disturbing Video Surfaces.

This led to growing animosity between the families. It was in Baghpat that they severely beat him and left him in a forest in a semi-conscious state. Upon receiving the news of his abduction, the victim's family reached the forest, where they found him in critical condition. Despite efforts to rush him to a hospital, Himanshu succumbed to his injuries upon arrival. Uttar Pradesh Shocker: Man Slits Open Eight-Month-Old Pregnant Wife’s Womb to Check Unborn Child's Sex in Budaun, Gets Life Imprisonment.

According to an Indian Express report, Himanshu's uncle, Anil Kumar Sharma, recounted the harrowing details of the abduction, stating that Himanshu received a call from the girl's phone and was subsequently kidnapped by her relatives. Despite efforts to intervene and rescue Himanshu, the assault proved fatal. An FIR has been registered under sections 140 and 103(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which names eight members of the woman's family, including the girl's maternal uncles and other family members involved in the assault. With two arrested, investigations are underway to determine the full extent of the circumstances and apprehend the remaining accused.
