Uttar Pradesh School Horror: 51 Students Electrocuted by High-Tension Wire in Balrampur, Hospitalised; CM Adityanath Orders Probe

Fifty-one students of a primary school in Uttar Pradesh's Balrampur district were injured after an electric shock attributed to high-tension (HT) wire that was in contact with some trees in the school campus. This incident has prompted UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to order a probe into the matter.

Balrampur, July 16: In a shocking incident which could have turned tragic, fifty-one students of a primary school in Uttar Pradesh's Balrampur district were injured after an electric shock attributed to high-tension (HT) wire that was in contact with some trees in the school campus. This incident has prompted UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to order a probe into the matter. The incident took place on Monday morning when children in Nayanagar primary school in Naya Nagar Vishnupur area took off their footwear to sit on the ground. This brought them in contact with electricity which apparently circulated through tress and moist ground, a police officer said. The incident came to light when school teachers heard around 60 students screaming and running bare-footed to flee. Most of them, couldn't stand and fainted. The teachers were safe as they don't require to take off footwear, unlike students.

Taking a serious note, Yogi Adityanath ordered District Magistrate Krishna Karunesh to provide medical assistance to the kids while directing officials to taken action against the guilty within 24 hours which led to injuries to 51 students. Meanwhile, all the students are safe.

“Strict action will be initiated against those showing laxity in this regard,” Adityanath said. According to reports, two officials of the Power department were sacked and an inquiry was ordered against the concerned junior engineer. The Power department is also instructed to remove such wires passing over schools.
