Uttar Pradesh Rains: Three Buildings Collapse in Lucknow; Three People Reported Dead
Heavy rains have been wreaking havoc in Uttar Pradesh. Three buildings collapsed in Lucknow today due to waterlogging following the incessant rains.
Lucknow, August 3: Heavy rains have been wreaking havoc in Uttar Pradesh. Three buildings collapsed in different areas in Lucknow today due to waterlogging following the incessant rains. Three people died in the collapses. A 10-year-old girl succumbed to injuries in the building collapse in Ganeshganj area of the state capital, whereas two people died in the collapse in Udaihganj. An eight-year-old girl was injured near Lalkuan area of Lucknow when a building came crashing down.
Apart from the three casualties in today’s building collapses, 12 people died due to heavy rainfall and lightning in 14 districts of Uttar Pradesh since yesterday, raising the death toll to over 150 in the season since July 1. As many as 234 houses were also damaged in the rains. According to reports, two deaths each are reported from Kanpur, Gonda and Banda.
As a precautionary measure against the rains, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath had directed senior officials of all the districts to alert people. He had also asked them to undertake extensive tours of the affected areas and to identify dilapidated buildings and get them vacated. Senior officials were also directed to provide immediate financial and medical assistance to people severely affected by rains. Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav also instructed the party office-bearers and workers to help people stranded in the flood-affected areas.
