Kanpur, September 3: Heavy rains have lashed Uttar Pradesh. Ten people were killed and nine injured in rain-related incidents, including in lightning strike increasing the death toll to 26 in the past 48 hours. Relief Commissioner Sanjay Kumar told reporters in Lucknow that ten people were killed and nine injured in rain-related incidents, including in lightning strike, since Sunday night.

He further added, “While four deaths were reported from Jhansi, two were from Etawah and one death each was reported from Firozbad, Raebareli, Auraiya and Shamli.” A total of 116 houses were damaged, and four cattle also died due to rains.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning of heavy to very heavy rains in some parts of the state over the next three days. Ganga river in Kanpur is flowing above danger mark following heavy rainfall in the region. People are being shifted to relief camps. Virag Kumar, Flood Relief Officer said,"Total 4000 people affected. Water level unlikely to rise further.1000 people moved to shelters till now with their cattle."

Yesterday, heavy rains also lashed Delhi-NCR. Waterlogging was reported in various parts of the national capital. The IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall in Punjab, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and Uttarakhand. North-eastern states of the country are also likely to witness heavy showers on in this week.
