Uttar Pradesh Rains: 15 Dead, 133 Buildings Collapse in 3 Days After Rainfall Wreaks Havoc Across the State

Nearly 14 districts in Uttar Pradesh witnessed torrential rainfall and thunderstorm in the past three days. According to official data, 15 people have lost their lives, 23 animals were killed while 133 buildings collapsed due to rain-related incidents in the past four days from July 9 to 12.

Lucknow, July 13: Heavy rainfall in Uttar Pradesh in the past few days wreaked havoc, killing as many as 15 people. The heavy downpour across the state caused flood-like situations and waterlogging in several districts. According to reports, nearly 14 districts in Uttar Pradesh witnessed torrential rainfall and thunderstorm in the past three days, crippling normal life across the state. The districts that have been impacted by heavy rainfall include Unnao, Ambedkar Nagar, Prayagraj, Barabanki, Hardoi, Khiri, Gorakhpur, Kanpur Nagar, Pilibhit, Sonabhadra, Chandoli, Firozabad, Mau and Sultanpur.

In the wake of the weather conditions, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted "partly cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers" for Saturday and next five days in Lucknow. In its weather bulletin, the IMD said heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places over Uttarakhand, East Uttar Pradesh, Jharkhand, Madhya Maharashtra, Konkan and Goa, Coastal Karnataka, Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura is expected on Saturday. Assam Rains: Trains Cancelled/Short Terminated; Check List Here. 

The northeastern states have been reeling with a continuous downpour over the last few days. In Mizoram, around 300 houses were vacated on Friday after Tlabung town was flooded due to heavy rainfall in the region. In Assam,  six people have lost their lives in floods across the state till July 12. At least 21 districts- including Dhemaji, Lakhimpur, Biswanath, Sonitpur, Darning, Baksa, Barpeta, Nalbari, Chirang, Bongaigaon, Kokrajhar, Goalpara, Morigaon, Hojai, Nagaon, Golaghat, Majuli,Jorhat,Sivsagar,Dibrugarh, Tinsukia have been affected in last 24 hours due to incessant rains.
