Uttar Pradesh: IPS Officer Surendra Das Who Googled on 'How to End Life' Dies 4 Days After Suicide Attempt
A suicide note was recovered from the residential premises of Das, in which he blamed none but "stress related to personal life". ADG Chandra said the police is probing whether his suicide note was tempered.
Kanpur, Sept 9: Indian Police Service officer Surendra Kumar Das, who allegedly attempted suicide four days ago, died on Sunday. The 30-year-old IPS breathed his last at 12:19 pm ar Kanpur's Regency hospital.
Doctors who were treating him over the past four days claimed that Das had consumed Celphos, a pesticide, which affected his entire body and led to his demise. The immediate cause of death was stated to be the stoppage of blood circulation in vital body parts.
Das was first rushed to the UHM hospital on Wednesday morning at 5am, after his wife, who is a doctor, ound froth oozing out from his mouth. He was later referred to the Regency hospital, where he was on life support system over the last four days.
Anant Deo, SSP, Kanpur, said Das was depressed over a period of time, as revealed through his mobile and laptop browsing history. He was searching on google for "ways to end life", the police said.
Although his death prima facie appears to be a case of suicide, the police is conducting a thorough investigation, ADG, Kanpur Zone, Avinash Chandra told reporters.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and DGP OP Singh expressed sorrow over the demise of the young officer. Singh recalled Das as a "hardworking IPS" whose loss is a setback to the police department.
Das, a BTech graduate, was commissioned into service in 2014. He is survived by his father RC Das, mother Indu Devi and younger brother Narendra Das -- who stay in Lucknow's Ekta Nagar locality.
