Uttar Pradesh: Four Kashmiris Detained in Kannauj, Intelligence Agencies Investigating Matter
The detention of the four Kashmiris came amid the arrest of two persons - Mufti Naeem Kazmi and Imam Maulana Anwarul Haque - from Bijnor in connection to the murder of Hindu Samaj Party leader Kamlesh Tiwari. The Kashmiri suspects are, however, not being linked to his assassination case.
Lucknow, October 19: At least four Kashmiris were detained in Uttar Pradesh's Kannauj district on Saturday based on the inputs received from the Intelligence. The suspects belong to Jammu & Kashmir's Poonch district and claim to have arrived in Kannauj to collect funds for their local madrassa. They were taken into custody by the UP police. "Four Kashmiris have been detained, they claim that they are from Poonch district and that they were here to collect funds for a madarsa. They are being interrogated. Intelligence agencies are investigating the matter further as to what was their purpose," Vinod Kumar, Assistant Superintendent of Police, said.

Meanwhile, the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in connection with the UP Police also arrested three suspects in the Kamlesh Tiwari murder case from Gujarat. They have been identified as Maulana Mohsin Sheikh (24), Rasheed Ahmed Pathan (23) and Faizan (21).
