Lucknow, June 16: After not being able to get clean drinking water, a family in Uttar Pradesh has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his permission to end their lives. Reports inform that a farmer in Hathras, along with his three daughters, has written to the Prime Minister as they are having a tough time to cope up with the water crisis in the state. With no drinking water,  the family is facing a difficult time surviving in the sweltering heat. According to reports, Chandrapal Singh, a farmer from Hasayan block in Hathras, has been visiting government offices with complaints about the water in the area tasting like brine (salty),  but nothing has been done so far. The man said the water cannot be used for drinking and the crops are also drying because of excessive salt in it. The helpless man said he cannot afford bottled water for the family and his requests have fallen on deaf. “We cannot drink this water. Whenever my daughters drink it, they throw up. I have now sought permission from the Prime Minister to end my life and also that of my minor daughters," the man said. In several parts of Uttar Pradesh, contaminated water has caused havoc, giving residents a tough time. According to a report by PTI, the other residents of the area have also battling with the same issue. Locals have been facing a terrible time across the state as severe heatwave conditions has also added to the woes there. Reports inform that the water is so salty that even the animals do not drink it. We have to walk three to four kilometres to get potable water.
