Lucknow, September 1: In yet another case of medical negligence, an elderly man in Uttar Pradesh's Shikohabad district received stitches under a mobile flashlight as there was no electricity available in the hospital. The man was reportedly involved in a road accident and sustained injuries. He was brought to the hospital by his son. Manoj Kumar, a resident of a nearby village, had to be taken to a hospital following the injury he sustained due to the accident. This is just one of the recent such incidents to take place in Uttar Pradesh. Cases of medical negligence ranging from carelessness in surgeries to delay in the treatment of patients have been reported in recent times . The man received stitches under mobile flashlight. The doctor on the duty said that the matter will be brought to the notice of senior medical officer. When asked for explanation, Dr Abhishek, the doctor on duty, said that frequent power cuts are a reality in the area. The doctor added that there is an invertor in the hospital, which is reserved for emergency purposes. However, the doctor said that the invertor might have been discharged, which must have forced the hospital administration to administer the stictches under mobile flashlight.
