Uttar Pradesh: Doctor’s Attendant Ties Minor Boy With Chain for Allegedly Stealing Slippers From Outside the Clinic

The attendant has been identified as Asif and has been booked under for wrongful confinement and provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act (JJ Act) at Kavi Nagar police station. An FIR has been lodged against the accused.

Ghaziabad, Sep 12: In a shocking incident, a clinic attendant in Uttar Pradesh has been arrested for allegedly tying a boy with a metal chain for stealing slippers. Reports inform that that the man was arrested in Ghaziabad on Wednesday. According to a report by Hindustan Times, the accused has been identified as Asif and has been booked under for wrongful confinement and provisions of the Juvenile Justice Act (JJ Act) at Kavi Nagar police station in Uttar Pradesh. An FIR has been lodged against the accused.

The HT report informs that the accused was arrested while the child was sent for medical examination. Reports inform that it is alleged that the child tried to run away with slippers that were kept outside the clinic, to which the attendant tied him with the chain as punishment.

Reports inform that the incident came to light on Tuesday after local journalists found the boy tied to the chain outside a Phonics speech and hearing clinic in Raj Nagar. A photographer with a local newspaper saw the troubled child and clicked pictures to inform the police. Frightened, the attendant unlocked the chain and freed the child

According to details by the Vaibhav Krishna, senior superintendent of police, the accused was initially booked under section 151 of the CrPC (Criminal Procedure Code) but later an FIR was lodged under the provisions of the JJ Act and wrongful confinement of IPC (Indian Penal Code).
