Uttar Pradesh Building Collapse: 12 Dead, Several Feared Trapped After Two-Storey Building Collapses in Mau Following a Cylinder Blast
According to reports, the deadly incident took place in Mohammadabad town's Mau area in Ghazipur district. Reports inform that several have been feared trapped in the debris.
Lucknow, October 14: In a tragic incident, at least 12 people were killed after a two-storey building collapsed in Uttar Pradesh on Monday morning. According to a tweet by ANI, the building collapsed due to a gas cylinder explosion in Mau district at around 7.30 am on Monday, leaving as many as 15 people critically injured. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed took cognizance of the incident and expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased.
According to the state's Home Department sources, the impact of the cylinder blast was so strong that the two-storey house in the village blew out completely. Locals informed that they heard a loud explosion and saw flames erupting from the damaged building. As soon as the incident was reported, teams of police and fire-brigade were rushed to the spot and rescue operations are underway.

Police rushed to the spot to take a stock of the situation. Several rescue teams were also pressed into service to help in the rescue operations. In the wake of the incident, Adityanath has directed district officials to provide proper treatment to the injured and also assured all necessary help to the survivors.
In July this year, heavy rainfall had wreaked havoc in Uttar Pradesh , triggering flood-like situations in several parts. According to official data, over 20 people were killed while 133 buildings collapsed due to rain-related incidents from July 9 to 12.
