Uttar Pradesh BJP MLA Sushil Singh Distributes Party Scarves To Students, Accused of Carrying Out Membership Drive at a School

The BJP MLA distributed BJP scarves to students inside campus of National Inter College in Saiyadraja. The event sparked a controversy as the leader was using flags of his political party. When Singh was asked, he said students had called him as there was no library in school.

Lucknow, July 19: Sushil Singh, a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Saiyadraja in Uttar Pradesh distributed BJP scarves to students in a school on July 16. According to a tweet by ANI, Singh distributed BJP scarves to students inside campus of National Inter College in Saiyadraja. Singh, was however, accused of carrying out a membership drive in the school. When the BJP leader was asked about it, he said students had called him as there was no library in school.

The MLA added saying that he visited the school and assured them about library. Adding further he said that the students asked him to scarves and then took a picture. "Students had called me as there was no library in school, I went there after school got over and assured them about library. Students asked me for scarves & took a picture. I told them to associate with BJP's ideology, it wasn't a membership drive", the man said.

In May this year, Pooja Shakun Pandey, the Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha (ABHM) leader had sparked a similar controversy. According to reports, Pandey was seen distributed knives and swords as a gift to students who topped their examinations in different schools across the state.
