The victim's family had filed a police complaint and stated that a young man was harassing their daughter while she was on her way to coaching classes. In their complaint, the family also claimed that the man threatened their daughter over the phone.
Lucknow, November 11: In an unfortunate incident in Uttar Pradesh, a 16-year-old girl allegedly died by suicide by hanging herself at her home in Lakhanpur following molestation The alleged incident came to light on Saturday, November 9, after the victim was reportedly found dead in her home in Lakhanpur village. Notably, the teen girl was found dead two days after her family filed a molestation complaint with the police.
According to a report in The Times of India, the victim's family had filed a police complaint and stated that a young man was harassing their daughter while she was on her way to coaching classes. In their complaint, the family also claimed that the man threatened their daughter over the phone. Following this, they approached the police and lodged a complaint at the Sikandarpur police station. However, it was learned that the two policemen assigned to the case, head constable Munib Yadav and constable Vikas Kumar Yadav, neither informed their superiors about the case nor followed proper investigative procedures. After learning about the policemen's behaviour, the two were immediately suspended. SHO Vikrant Vir said that the victim was found hanging from a ceiling fan with a dupatta. Meanwhile, the police have launched an investigation in connection with the girl's death, while the two policemen have been suspended for neglecting their duty, and on grounds of inaction and indiscipline.
