Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday while addressing a rally in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari alleged that previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government stopped the India Army from conducting surgical strikes after the 26/11 Mumbai attack.

Kanyakumari, March 1: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday while addressing a rally in Tamil Nadu's Kanyakumari alleged that previous United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government stopped the Indian Armed Forces from conducting surgical strikes after the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. PM Modi said that there were several terror acts between 2004 and 2014. He further added that the UPA government did nothing to avenge the Mumbai attacks even though the Air Force wanted to conduct surgical strikes, but after Uri and Pulwama attack his government gave full freedom to the Indian armed forces. Balakot Strike Evidence Shared With Govt, Upto Them to Reveal: IAF

The PM also said, "This is New India that will return the damage with interest." The Prime Minister was speaking at the inauguration of different projects in Kanyakumari. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Edappaddi Palaniswami thanked PM Modi for inaugurating various development schemes. The PM laid the foundation stone of "for extension of a railway line from Rameswaram-Dhanushkodi and a new bridge replacing old Pamban bridge. The Prime Minister also flagged off the fastest train Tejas between Madurai - Chennai. The train is made under 'Make in India' programme and is manufactured in the Integral Coach factory of Chennai itself.
