Lucknow, September 26: A woman who stored Rs 18 lakh of cash at a bank in Uttar Pradesh's Moradabad discovered that her money had been destroyed by termites, according to a report Aaj Tak on Tuesday. The event occurred at the Bank of Baroda branch in the city. Alka Pathak had placed the cash and some jewels in a locker at the Bank of Baroda's Ramganga Vihar branch. She allegedly set aside the funds for her daughter's wedding.

The bank asked her to contact the branch for agreement renewal and KYC verification when she saw her money was harmed. She alerted the branch manager, forcing the bank's officials to initiate an inquiry. Pathak allegedly stated that she was unaware that such a thing could occur; otherwise, she would not have put her money in the bank locker. New Rules in 2023: From Bank Lockers to Credit Card Points and More, Full List of Norms Likely To Change From January 1, 2023.

Mehta discovered her money had been ruined by the insects after opening the bag. The Rs 15,000 worth of currency notes she kept separately was tampered with. She alerted the bank manager, who swapped Rs 15,000 for her money. According to Senior Manager Praveen Kumar Yadav, the bank's higher officials were notified, and the client was summoned back to the bank to handle the situation.
