Mumbai, September 16: A government school teacher in Uttar Pradesh's Meerut was recently suspended for allegedly making dance videos in the classroom. The English teacher, who teaches at a government upper primary school in Uttar Pradesh's Bulandshahr district, was reportedly suspended for recording a dance video inside a classroom. The teacher is said to have recorded a '90s Bollywood number in front of students aged 8 to 11 in the classroom.
According to a report in the Times of India, the teacher was immediately suspended after the incident came to light. The Basic Shiksha Adhikari (BSA) has also formed a two-member panel to investigate the matter. The suspended teacher has been served a show cause notice. In the 16-second video clip, which is said to be two weeks old, the saree-clad English teacher can be seen dancing in a room. After the alleged incident, parents claimed the teacher was "dancing in an obscene manner in front of the children inside a classroom". A few students also alleged that the teacher asked them to shoot her dance video.
Speaking about the incident, Laxmikant Pandey, BSA of Bulandshahr, said, "A teacher of a government-aided upper primary school at Bulandshahr's Riwara village was immediately suspended. A show cause notice was also served, asking her to reply to the allegations within two days. She taught students from classes five to eight." Pandey also said strict action would be taken against the culprits following the investigation if anything objectionable is found. Meanwhile, the teacher has refuted the allegations and said she used to record her videos using a tripod stand during her free time after school. "I never asked anyone to record it," she added.
